Nordic walking uses two specially designed poles to work the upper body while walking. Like cross country skiing, the poles are used by the arms to match each step the person takes, whether walking on pavement or hiking on trails.
Benefits of Nordic walking:
· Increases heart rate without increasing perceived rate of exertion
· Increase heart rate without walking faster
· Works the arms, shoulders, upper chest and back muscles through a full range of motion
· Helps overcome hunching forward that develops while at work
· Assists in the biodynamics of walking for those with balance, knee or leg issues
·
· Provides more stability while walking
